Dr. Ruth Jacoby |
Dr. Ruth Jacoby grew up and was educated in Brooklyn, New York. As a youngster, her parents believed in education and in teaching as the most rewarding profession. To follow this goal, since her early teens, she was involved in working and assisting children in summer camps and afternoon Y programs. She has been involved in education for more than 30 years. Her Bachelors of Science is in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and her Masters of Science is in Special Needs. Her Ed. D. degree is in Child and Youth Studies for Children from Birth through 18 years of age. Her work experience follows her degrees, from teaching in early childhood centers to multi-age multi- level classrooms to special needs to courses at various colleges in Florida where she has resided for the past thirty years. Her experience as principal of various private schools led her to become a principal of four Charter schools with twelve hundred students for grades Pre-K through 9th grade. After obtaining her doctorate from Nova Southeastern University, she became involved with writing articles, lecturing on many educational issues and trends, planning and presenting at State and Local conferences, and writing college courses and grants. As a principal of one of the first Charter Schools in Broward County, she has proven her curriculum expertise. In her tenure, she has received two Annenberg and Dissemination Grants. Her school became one of the first Charter Schools in the State to receive SACS accreditation (Southern Association for Colleges). Dr. Jacoby is on several Governing Boards
for charter schools in Miami-Dade County. She is also an active member
in the Charter School Consortium. For the past two years, she has become
actively involved with educating other charter school personnel on how
