Dr. Cynthia Vavasseur began her career as a middle school educator. After studying for her PhD
in Educational Technology, she worked at the Louisiana Center for Educational Technology before
joining the Nicholls State University faculty. At N.S.U., she oversees the Master's degree in
Educational Leadership with a concentration in Educational Technology as well as the Middle School
Education programs.
Dr. Vavasseur's area of expertise is innovative integration of technology for
teachers. Her work has been published in national and international journals and primarily revolve
around unique technology professional development for teachers. In 2012, Dr. Vavasseur was named Post
Secondary educator of the year and named one of the "Top 50 Innovators in Education" by the Center for
Digital Education. Dr. Vavasseur is happily married with three young children: Christian, Avery and Gabriel.
