Dr. Bill Swann

Bill Swann brings a unique set of skills to today’s educational arena. From a career in adult religious education and clinical social work, he entered the field of school social work a decade ago where he now specializes in programs that promote character education and personal accountability.

Bill has been recognized by the School Social Work Network of the National Association of Social Work-- Louisiana Chapter for his creative leadership in providing children, their parents, teachers, and school administrators and fellow social workers with the knowledge and skills they need to make the most of their educational experience.

His message to children and parents encourages mutual respect and teaches them practical techniques for improving their listening and conflict resolution skills. With teachers he provides useful insights into methods for improving themselves as effective role models for children. His approach encourages creative methods of individual and group management. His message to administrators centers upon helping them to identify and use their skills as problem solvers and staff motivators.

Along with two school psychologist colleagues, Bill played a key role in the developing and presenting an effective program for teachers that was designed to improve their management of children with special behavioral challenges. He has collaborated in the design and implementation of another innovative program in his district that helps teachers improve team building and team work strategies. In addition, Bill has demonstrated his effectiveness with students and parents as well as with community agencies in his district’s character education efforts.

An articulate speaker and a caring listener, Bill Swann’ s presentations are always enlightening, entertaining, and useful. Teachers and administrators benefit immediately.
